Laixi Puppetry 莱西木偶
Qingdao Laixi, Shandong
Laixi puppetry is a traditional rod-puppet theatre from Laixi, Qingdao, Shandong. Recognized as a provincial intangible cultural heritage, it has a long history that can be traced back to the Western Han dynasty. In 1978, a 193-centimeter wooden puppet with movable joints was unearthed from the Daishu Western Han wooden-chamber tomb in Laixi; it remains the earliest and largest wooden puppet artifact discovered to date.
莱西木偶戏是流行于山东省青岛市莱西市的一种传统杖头木偶戏，为山东省省级非物质文化遗产，它历史悠久，可追溯至西汉时期。1978年，莱西市岱墅西汉木椁墓中出土了高193厘米、关节可活动的大木偶，为迄今发现年代最早、个头最大的木制偶实物。
